Through their generous commitment to preserving and sharing Belgium’s artistic heritage, Isabelle and Philippe Dewez have made possible the acquisition of two works by Constantin Meunier and Henri Evenepoel, which will permanently enrich public collections.
A missing link in the Meunier Museum
Cockfight (1883) by Constantin Meunier is now part of the collections of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, thanks to the intervention of the Isabelle and Philippe Dewez Fund. This work sheds light on the artist’s stay in Seville and his artistic development, as well as filling an important gap in the reference collection of the Meunier Museum, one of the most complete collections devoted to this important Belgian artist. Evenepoel in Paris
Worker by the Seine (1898) offers a striking representation of working-class life and modernity in Paris at the end of the 19th century. Thanks to its composition and visual intensity, the painting is a significant addition to the collection dedicated to social reality of the period at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.
