'James Ensor. Inspired by Brussels' is an exhibition organised by the KBR to honour the year of Ensor and which is accessible to blind and visually-impaired people. Thanks to support from the King Baudouin Foundation, tailor-made visits have been developed.

Encouraging the development of leisure activities that are accessible to those with visual or hearing impairments is the objective of about a dozen of the Funds managed by the King Baudouin Foundation. Each year, a number of Funds, all of which are active in the field of supporting those with a visual or hearing impairment, pool their financial resources in order to support leisure activities for those with a disability. Together, they launch two calls for projects: Visual Impairment and Inclusion and Hearing Impairment and Inclusion.

In 2023, some thirty institutions and individuals were selected within the framework of Visual Impairment and Inclusion. Among those chosen to receive support was the KBR for the development of a tailor-made visit to the exhibition 'James Ensor. Inspired by Brussels', open from 22 February until 2 June 2024. The visitor to the exhibition can find out how the city of Brussels contributed to shaping Ensor’s colourful and distinctive language. During the visit, a guide illustrates the importance of Brussels in the life and work of the young Ensor and throughout the visit you can interact with the works through tactile materials and music.
