Prizewinners for the call ‘Jeunes artisans dans les métiers du patrimoine’

This platform, created by Sofina SA and the descendants of Sofina’s Gustave Boël, wish to support training for talented young Belgian craftsmen and women working in heritage crafts to accelerate their path to excellence. In 2012, four projects were supported:

Sandrine Boget: this instrument maker received support to participate in various internships to enable her to build her own double bass.

Sandrine Brasseur: received support for training in stone cutting at the Academie Beeldende Kunsten in Anderlecht (Brussels) and for the acquisition of quality stone for her work.

Arnaud Fontaine: will participate in internships in 15 European countries to study the techniques of master stonemasons (as part of the European Master of Craft Tour degree course, awarded by the European Association of Building Crafts and Design).

Jeroen Vercruysse: will receive traditional training in stone sculpture to master the classic methods of working such as modelling in moulding clay, work based on plaster models and classical academic drawing.
