Japanese Cherry tree

Maurice Wyckaert (1923-1996) was a Belgian artist of the neo-expressionist tradition. His work evolved from figurative to lyrical abstract art. During the 1970s, his painting was characterized by free interpretation of landscapes. Above all, Wyckaert painted landscapes in bright colours, using impasto with a knife or directly from the tube, as seen in this work.
