The King Baudouin Foundation and museum institutions team up to ensure that the masterpieces of our heritage are accessible to everyone. As part of its new installation, DIVA has created audacious sets and interior designs to show off important pieces of art to their very best.
Visitors are invited to discover the fascinating history of diamonds, jewellery, gold and silverwork and to admire works of art which, thanks to the intervention of the King Baudouin Foundation, have enriched the new museum’s collection.
Among the works to be seen are:
- The owl with the Antwerp hallmark: a 16th century goblet in the shape of an owl, in silver and coconut shell.
- The Ondine table centre piece and the Mirador candelabras made by Wolfers
- An 18th century silver terrine made by Mechelen silversmith Johannes Cornelius Hendrickx
- A pipe to commemorate the Battle of Waterloo
- A snuffbox with a miniature portrait of King Leopold II
- An extremely rare table fountain in Imari porcelain with a silver mount
- The van Reynegom ceremonial guild chain
- A ring bearing the monogram of King Leopold I
- A half-set of jewellery (broach and drop earrings) by Arthur Dufour
- Jewellery created by Belgian designers in the 1970s
- Wolfers silver boxes
- Preparatory sketches for jewellery by Vander Cruycen
