On Sunday 15 September, you can come and admire once more the celestial and terrestrial globes of Willem Janszoon Blaeu at the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library in Antwerp. They have been restored thanks to support from the Courtin-Bouché Fund.

The symposium features the famous meeting between Stanley and Livingstone and, more notably, its important consequences for the exploration of Central Africa and Livingstone’s influence on Stanley.

This publication features Stanley’s notebooks, acquired by the King Baudouin Foundation in 2001, and recounts the fascinating search conducted to find Dr Livingstone.

John Simenon has donated the entirety of the archival documents relating to his father’s work. He has created the Simenon Heritage Fund within the King Baudouin Foundation, which will henceforth ensure its perpetuity.

To celebrate the bicentenary of Livingstone’s birth, the King Baudouin Foundation’s Heritage Fund and the Musée Royal de l’Afrique Centrale have joined forces to re-create the extraordinary meeting of Livingstone and Stanley. From 6/6/13 to 11/11/2013 at the BELvue Museum, Brussels.
