Acquisitions

On 30 June, the Art and History Museum is re-opening its doors to the public after 3 months’ closure. The ‘Wolfers shop’ will be exhibiting a sculpture by Philippe Wolfers, and, soon after, silver cutlery commissioned by Victor Horta from Wolfers Frères.

From among the varied works of the avant-garde artist Marcel-Louis Baugniet, four sketches for furniture and household objects have joined the collections of the King Baudouin Foundation.

Godelieve Vroom, lacemaker and specialist in antique lace, has donated her collection of 16th to 20th century lace to the King Baudouin Foundation. The collection will be entrusted to the MoMu (Fashion Museum) in Antwerp.

The Christian Bauwens Fund has acquired an exceptional 17th century ring. It will be exhibited at the DIVA. Unique in its type, the ring encloses a locket, which leaves an aura of mystery regarding its meaning.

A number of new works have been added to enrich our public collections in recent months. Thanks to the King Baudouin Foundation’s Heritage Fund and a number of Patrons’ Funds, the future of these important works of our heritage has been assured.
