ART DECO. Style in a Changing Society – BELvue Museum (Brussels)
This exhibition is free and features some of the magnificent Art Deco works from the King Baudouin Foundation’s own collection. It explores not only the sophisticated aesthetic of the Art Deco movement, but also the innovations and social upheavals that marked this fascinating period.

In Pursuit of Knowledge – M Leuven
To mark the 600th anniversary of the founding of the University of Leuven, this exhibition honours the search for knowledge across the centuries. The Leuven Chansonnier a jewel of 15th century Franco-Flemish polyphony, is a highlight of the exhibition. Scientific films made by Arthur Van Gehuchten, the first Professor of Neurology in Belgium, further stimulate our thoughts about the history of knowledge. Professor Van Gehuchten’s films are part of the Germaine Van Gehuchten Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation.

45-65. Jan Walravens, art critic – FeliX Art & Eco Museum (Drogenbos)
This exhibition explores the major impact of art critic Jan Walravens on the Belgian art scene between 1945 and 1965. A champion of modern art movements, from abstract to informal art, Walravens helped bring to light numerous post-World War II artists. Five works from the collection that Thomas Neirynck donated to the King Baudouin Foundation, considered as the leading public reference collection for abstract art in Belgium, enrich the exhibition.

Art X Gender – Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium (Brussels)
This exhibition questions the manner in which gender stereotypes have influenced artistic representations for centuries. Ferdinand Khnopff’s intimate painting Portrait de Marguerite and Evelyne Axell’s incisive pop art work L’Égocentrique 2 provide an excellent contribution to reflections about norms, identities and roles associated with masculinity and femininity.

Métal Hurlant – Belgian Comic Strip Center (Brussels)
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Métal Hurlant, the mythical science fiction comic strip album, the Belgian Comic Strip Center is currently holding an immersive exhibition. Seven pages of artwork from the first volume of Carapaces, from the series Les Terres Creuses (The Hollow Earths), demonstrate the graphic genius of François and Luc Schuiten as well as the album’s visionary inspiration.

The Wonder of Raoul Servais – Sint-Pietersabdij (Ghent)
In 2019, Raoul Servais donated a significant part of his archives and graphic work to the King Baudouin Foundation so as to preserve them for future generations. Visitors to this exhibition are immersed in the poetic, inventive and sometimes unsettling world of this pioneer of Belgian animated film. The exhibition retraces the film director’s life and career, from his childhood in Ostend, through a prolifically creative period in Ghent, up to his later years in the village of Leffinge.
